Dear Female Athlete:

 

Hockey Alberta is proud to notify you about the opportunity to be a part of the 2010 Alberta Winter Games - Team Alberta Program. Please read through the following information before clicking on the online registration button at the bottom of this page.

 

The Alberta Winter Games is the premiere development program for all female players born in 1995 through 1998, registered with Hockey Alberta. The program is designed to give you a great development experience through a well organized, competitive Zone Camp. It allows you to show your best in the hope of being selected to represent your Zone at the 2010 Alberta Winter Games to be held in the Lakeland Region February 4-7, 2010.

 

The Alberta Winter Games Zone Camp is for players of all levels. We want to give all participants, who attend, an opportunity to learn and be a part of a truly fun event. This is one of the first stage of an identification, evaluation and selection process for players leading towards the Team Alberta Program and eventually Team Alberta U18.

 

Please read all the information below before registering through the link provided at the bottom. If you have any questions about the 2010 Alberta Winter Games Zone Camp, please contact the Director of Operations for your Zone as indicated under the contacts.

Please note that all female players that are currently playing on boys’ hockey teams that are trying out for the Alberta Winter Games are strongly encouraged to try out for the female program.  If a female player, on a boys’ team, enters in the boys’ play down series with her club team she is no longer eligible to tryout for the Female Program, regardless of whether her club team qualifies for the Alberta Winter Games or not.  If a female player on boys’ team enters the girls’ tryouts, she is no longer eligible to enter the boy’s program, which includes both the play downs and the Alberta Winter Games Tournament.  A choice and a commitment must be made before applying the female camp.

 

P.S. If you know of any female hockey players that are registered with Hockey Alberta, born in 1995 to 1998 and did not receive notification about this program, please feel free to send them to the website.

REGISTRATION INFORMATION

Zone Camps:

Eight Zones (as defined by the Alberta Sport, Parks Recreation & Wildlife Foundation)

Dates & Locations:

Athletes:

All female players born in 1995 - 1998 and registered with any Hockey Alberta team or whose parents have a permanent address in Alberta are eligible to try-out.

Cost:

$100.00 for Zone Camp (athletes are responsible for their own transportation, meals and accommodation, if applicable). There will be additional costs for those who make the Zone Team.

Program:

All players will receive a Hockey Alberta Development Camp jersey and a total of four (4) ice sessions, which will include skill evaluation sessions and game sessions.

*Each participant must attend at least 3 sessions to be eligible for selection*

Registration:

Registration can be completed by filling out and submitting the on line form that can be found at the bottom of this page.

 

You must try out in the Zone in which your address appears on a Hockey Alberta card or team sheet (Zone map and boundaries enclosed tab) 

 

 

 

 

Application Deadline:

Your registration form must be received no later than December 5th, 2009. An email will be sent to you by your Director of Operations regarding the first ice time and camp information following the application deadline. Inquiries about late registrations can be made by contacting your Alberta Winter Games Director of Operations.

Payment:

Only credit cards or Money Orders will be accepted for payment.

Make all Money Orders payable to HOCKEY ALBERTA.

Refund Policy:

Full Refunds will be issued up to seven (7) days after the camp upon receipt, into the Hockey Alberta office, a letter from the participant detailing medical or family emergency reasons for non-attendance (doctor’s note also required).  If a letter from the athlete or parent is not received within seven (7) days after the Zone Camp is completed, but the family had contacted the Zone DOP prior to the start of the camp a twenty-five dollar ($25.00) fee will be withheld for administration purposes.  No refunds will be issued for players that did not contact the Zone DOP prior to the start of the camp (emergencies may be the exception), players that don’t have a medical or family emergency reason, and no refunds will be issued after December 23, 2010.
